A Year in Bloom: Sponsor the Tahoe Wildflower Big Year

$5,000.00

Sponsor our 2025 Wildflower Big Year—a year-long celebration of Tahoe’s remarkable botanical diversity. This community science initiative encourages people of all ages to explore, document, and appreciate the region’s wildflowers while contributing valuable data to help scientists track plant distribution and bloom patterns. This is our 4th triennial wildflower big year, but with a major addition for 2025: we are working closely with Molly Ferry, Michael Graf, and the Tahoe chapter of the California Native Plant Society on an completely updated edition to Graf’s 1999 plant field guide for the Lake Tahoe region, which remains the best field botany resource for both professionals and amateurs at Lake Tahoe. We have helped Molly and the Tahoe CNPS chapter secure grant funding towards this effort, but TINS has no explicit funding for our role in updating this important resource. With your support, we can have the best Tahoe Wildflower Big Year yet, expanding public engagement, offering more free guided outings, updating the field guide, and promoting plant conservation awareness throughout the Tahoe region.
