Discover the wonders of winter during a fun and educational snowshoe trek to Picnic Rock. Located on Tahoe’s North Shore, this excursion will take you through pine forests until you reach scenic vistas of Lake Tahoe. While being guided by trained TRTA Guides, TINS naturalist Sarah Hockensmith will discuss winter ecology concepts, falcons, and geology in the Basin. This three-mile, moderately difficult, out-and-back hike is family-friendly and appropriate for ages 12 and up.

Difficulty: Moderate (600′ elevation gain in 1.2 miles)

Distance: ~3 miles round trip

Location: Picnic Rock Trailhead, Brockway Summit, Kings Beach, CA
