Tahoe Breeding Birds

The Tahoe basin has many species for which the breeding status is currently uncertain. Some of these species are former breeders which may no longer reproduce at Tahoe, while others may be species whose breeding status at Tahoe is suspected or even highly likely but simply unconfirmed, and others yet may be species known breeders for which we have very little information about their breeding status and distribution. TINS would appreciate any new information on possible breeding attempts (current or former) for the following species:

Redhead - Aythya americana Barrow's Goldeneye - Bucephala islandica
Ruddy Duck - Oxyura jamaicensis
Eared Grebe - Podiceps nigricollis
Any heron, egret, or bittern, including former breeder American Bittern (Botaurus lentiginosus)
Turkey Vulture - Cathartes aura
Red-shouldered Hawk - Buteo lineatus Sandhill Crane - Grus canadensis Willet (Tringa semipalmata) and Long-billed Curlew (Numenius americanus)
