Volunteer

***We need volunteers for Guitar Strings vs. Chicken Wings, our annual fundraiser event at Palisades Tahoe, Friday 8 September. To learn more about the event and sign up to help, please CLICK HERE.

As a small organization with a limited staff, volunteers can be tremendously helpful in achieving our mission and broadening our reach.

We will do our best to keep you apprised as volunteer opportunities develop. To hear about new opportunities as they arrive, you can join our volunteer mailing list!

Here are some future volunteer opportunities for once COVID-19 has waned:

Office volunteers to assist us with a variety of administrative tasks.

Outreach volunteers to serve as trail docents, initially assisting us by co-leading natural history outings and then eventually leading their own hikes!

Education volunteers will have the opportunity to help out with school field trips and summer camps.

Citizen science volunteers for those looking to get involved in data collection. We have many Citizen Science projects, such as the Christmas Bird Count, Nightjar Surveys, and the Midwinter Bald Eagle Survey

Other opportunities for our various research projects may be possible; contact Sarah Hockensmith for more information.

If you  have any special skills you wish to contribute, contact Sarah Hockensmith. In particular, we are looking for people with experience in marketing, fundraising, and graphic design.

Our mascot is the Western Tanager (Piranga ludovicinia), a common summer resident of Tahoe’s conifer forests.
