Piranga - noun | Pi • ran • ga | \ pə̇ˈraŋgə \ :

1) a genus of North American tanagers in the family Cardinalidae, containing the Western Tanager  (Piranga ludoviciana, a common summer resident of the Lake Tahoe Region and the bird on the TINS logo).

2) a fundraiser event benefiting the Tahoe Institute for Natural Science, guaranteed to be a fun fall Friday for all participants!

Building on a solid foundation provided by the great success and popularity of Guitar Strings vs. Chicken Wings (GSvCW), TINS is developing an annual fundraising event comprising multiple activities and events highlighting team building, locally prepared food, craft beers, and live music. For 2016, we added a VIP tent to GSvCW, TINS entered a recipe for the wing competition at that event, and we kicked off the afternoon with a brand new event: The Company Picnic!
