2017 TRTA Youth Backcountry Camps (YBCC)

YBCC 2010 guys 2

June 25-28, ages 14-17

July 9-12, ages 12-14

August 13-16, ages 12-14

Join an intimate group of 10-12 youth, ages 12-14 or 14-17, on a personalized 4-day backpacking trip to discover and experience firsthand the beauty of the Lake Tahoe region. Topics include:

  • Local Ecology and Geology
  • Backcountry Living Skillslogo croppedTRTA logo main
  • Wilderness Survival Skills
  • Leadership and Team Building
  • Map and Compass Navigation 
  • Leave No Trace Ethics

Hike between 2 and 5 miles per day. Trips are fully supported by well-trained Tahoe Rim Trail Association and Tahoe Institute for Natural Science staff. All food, camping gear, permits, and transportation to and from the trailheads is provided by the TRTA. Participants need only to provide shoes, clothes, and a passion for the outdoors!
