Truckee/North Shore Camps
We are thrilled to be offering camps in the Truckee and North Shore this summer. We are partnering with the KidZone Museum, Tahoe City PUD, and Northstar on these 2017 camps:
Campers ages 6-8
Junior Entomologists - In various outdoor locations around Truckee, young campers will look under logs, among plants, and in tree bark in search of hidden insects. They will also learn what these bugs eat and their important jobs in the ecosystem. Note: Drop off location varies by day. Usually carpooling with other campers is a good option and can be arranged by you and other parents on the first day of camp.Campers Ages 6-8.
Dates/Times: July 17-20, Monday-Thursday, 9:00am - 1:00pm
Cost: $150; $135 for Tahoe Institute for Natural Science or KidZone Museum Members
Avian Adventures - In various locations around Truckee, campers will spend the week learning about our local birds, among many other things! Campers will learn to identify birds by sight and sound, play bird themed games, and create bird art while exploring local nature areas and bonding with fellow campers. Binoculars and field guides are provided during the week.
Note: Drop-off location varies by day.
Dates/Times: July 24-27, -Thursday, 9:00am-3:00pm
Cost: $185; $160 for Tahoe Institute for Natural Science or KidZone Museum Members
Campers ages 9-12
Tahoe Explorers - Campers will learn about wildlife ecology, forest ecology, water ecology, and geology of the Tahoe basin while hiking, kayaking, and learning from various natural science experts. Transportation and all activity fees are included.
Dates/Times: June 26-30, Monday-Friday, 9:00am - 4:00pm
Cost: $280; $250 for Tahoe Institute for Natural Science or KidZone Museum Members
Campers Ages 4-12
Insect Adventures - Tahoe Institute for Natural Science and Northstar are partnering during these two days of nature camp to learn about insects in our local environment during the two-day nature camp. Campers will have fun under the sun with their peers, while being able look under logs, among plants, and in tree bark in search of hidden insects. The meeting location will be at the Children's Ski School at Northstar Village, in Truckee CA.
Dates/Times: July 5, 6 & August 8, 9, 10:00am - 3:15pm (check in at 9:30am)
Cost: $129 per day - price includes lunch
