Will Richardson, Ph.D. (see Staff page for bio)
Kirk Hardie, M.S. (see Staff page for bio)
Kelly has lived in Lake Tahoe since 1995. She is a graduate of California State University, Chico, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She is an alumni of the Tahoe Chamber's Leadership Lake Tahoe program and is currently a member of the Task Force. She also serves on the Citizen's Bond Oversight Committee for the Lake Tahoe Unified School District.
In the past, Kelly was a Chapter Leader in her neighborhood of the Nevada Fire Safe Council, where she helped educate her community about defensible space and fire safety. Kelly is the mother of three girls. She enjoys hiking, skiing, biking, horseback riding and volunteering in her kids' classrooms. She hopes to instill a love for Tahoe and its natural environment in her children. She's excited to be a part of TINS because of the research based educational programs and events that we offer.
Matt Forister, Ph.D.
Matt has lived on either side of the Tahoe area for most of his life, growing up in the Central Valley of California, and now living in Reno, Nevada. Matt is an associate professor in the Biology Department at the University of Nevada. His research involves the ecology of plants and insects, in particular Lepidoptera (butterflies and moths).
He spends his time outdoors at field sites in the western Great Basin, and also in the Sierra Nevada where some remarkable insects can be found at the highest elevations (often overlooking Lake Tahoe). In his free time, Matt also likes to hang out with butterflies and moths.
Residing in the north Lake Tahoe area full- and part-time since 1967, Kristine has a Tahoe family heritage dating from 1924. She was raised in the Bay Area and earned her degree in Mass Communication: Marketing & Business from the University of California, Berkeley. After working in the San Francisco design trade and luxury custom home remodels, she currently specializes in regional real estate as a Lake Tahoe, Nevada, and California Realtor ® at Chase International.
Kristine is passionate about her local community and sharing all things Lake Tahoe with others. Most recently, she served as VP Trail Use for the Tahoe Rim Trail Association, where she developed the "Tahoe Rim Trail Challenge" program. Corporate sponsors included REI, KOLO 8 News, Nevada Energy, and the Desert Research Institute. She was acting Chair of the Trail Use Committee, helped lead the annual Regional Outdoor Leadership & Guide Training and served as a volunteer trail guide, completing the entire 164-mile Tahoe Rim Trail three times. In addition, she was a dynamic leader of youth programs in local schools, and served on the Auxiliary Board for Marin Community Food Bank and Resource Management Team for United Way of the Bay Area. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, snowshoeing, and kayaking at Lake Tahoe.
Melanie Rives (photo coming soon)
Melanie, a Wyoming native and graduate of the University of Wyoming, moved to the Tahoe area in 1991. When not working as an accountant at Sugar Bowl Ski Resort, she can be found enjoying everything from skiing and ice climbing in the winter to biking and kayaking in the summer. Melanie is absolutely "over the moon" to be part of TINS because she believes that through education and outreach more people can come to love and appreciate the Tahoe area as much as she does.
