We are currently accepting applications and plan to have these AmeriCorps positions filled by June 1st:

 

Education Manager

Duties will be principally focused on coordinating and conducting hour long in-school programs on the natural history of the Tahoe region, assisting field trips for classes to local nature areas, and helping run nature-based summer camps. The member will help with scheduling school groups and developing content and materials for education programs. The member will assist with developing the content, activities, program materials, and marketing materials for new fieldtrips in addition to refining our current programs. The member will also collaborate with our partner organizations for school activities and festivals, such as the Lake Tahoe Bird Festival. Other activities will include tabling at events and festivals, helping with nature walks, supporting our research programs as needed, and other needs of a growing nonprofit. The member will gain considerable knowledge of Lake Tahoe's natural history. Candidates must be friendly, personable, and have a strong interest in natural history.

Outreach Manager

Duties will be principally focused around coordinating and increasing our natural history outreach programming, helping to develop and coordinate our volunteer program and recruiting volunteers, and coordinating and implementing our citizen science programs, including our new phenology citizen science project: the Sierra Seasons Project. The member will gain considerable knowledge of Lake Tahoe's natural history and seek to expand our natural history outreach offerings by identifying opportunities and actively providing outreach through nature hikes, slideshow presentations, and festival activities. Some of these programs will be developed by the member. The member will manage our roles in the Lake Tahoe Bird Festival and the Lake Tahoe Native Species Day. In addition, the member will also support our in-school science programs, nature-based field trips, nature-based summer camps, and research programs. Candidates must be friendly, personable, and have a strong interest in natural history.
